CHEVY SAUNSOCI

After 7 seasons coaching at Creighton, Chevy left coaching to begin a new mission: close the “access gap” to elite training, coaching and advising. In 2020, Chevy founded DVLP.

Confident that DVLP was in capable hands with Lex and Ciara, Chevy followed her love of coaching and competition back to Creighton during the summer of 2022. Chevy played an integral role in recruiting many of the players within the Creighton team and coach Flanery was happy to bring her back on his staff.

“Chevy does such a great job of helping young women grow, both on and off the court,” said Creighton head women’s basketball coach Jim Flanery. “Chevy understands how we have success at Creighton, she brings an enthusiasm for the everyday that will push our players and staff to be at our best.”

Chevy and her husband, Eddie, live in Omaha and have 2 daughters: K’Ali and Kobey.

playing career

A three-year starter for Creighton, Chevy played her entire tenure under Flanery’s direction. She closed her career with 1,098 points, 254 assists and 119 steals. Following her junior season, Chevy was an All-MVC Second Team selection as she led Creighton with 441 points. She also earned a spot on the 2010 MVC All-Tournament Team, helping the Bluejays advance to the championship game.

COACHING CAREER

During Chevy’s time on the bench the Bluejays made three trips to the NCAA Tournament (2013, 2017 and 2018), advancing to the Second Round each time. Saunsoci specifically worked with Jaylyn Agnew, helping the Kansas native earn the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year honor in 2017, an All-BIG EAST Tournament Team selection in 2019, the BIG EAST Player of the Year in 2020 and become the Bluejays’ first player drafted as well as play in the WNBA.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without Chev. Her attention to detail in our 1-on-1 workouts is what helped me make that jump to the next level.”
